BASF announces force majeure in supply of some products |
On August 7th, BASF announced that the supply of some vitamin A, vitamin E, carotenoid products, and some fragrance raw materials encountered force majeure. A fire broke out at BASF’s Ludwigshafen plant in Germany on July 29th. The involved device produces fragrant raw materials and precursors for the production of vitamin A, vitamin E, and carotenoids. BASF stated that all injured employees had left the medical center on the night of the accident, and the incident did not cause any air, water, or soil pollution. Affected by the fire, BASF Europe (also on behalf of its affected affiliates) announced that from now until further notice, the supply of some vitamin A, vitamin E, carotenoid products, and some fragrance ingredient products will be affected by force majeure. The fragrance ingredients involved include ionone, white flower alcohol, DL menthol, rose ether, ethyl linalool, orange blossom tertiary alcohol, and isophytol. BASF actively maintains communication with customers to provide the latest information on the supply capacity of affected products. BASF stated that cleaning, inspection, and repair work for the damaged equipment has been initiated. |
