| Japanese catalyst builds SAP factory in Indonesia |
| Recently, Nippon Catalyst announced that its subsidiary Nippon Catalyst Indonesia (NSI) will build a 50000 ton/year superabsorbent polymer (SAP) plant in Cilegon, Indonesia. The factory is scheduled to commence operations in July 2027, with a project investment of 110 million US dollars. After the completion of this project, NSI’s total SAP production capacity will reach 140000 tons per year. Last year, Japan Catalyst opened a 100000 ton/year acrylic acid (AA) plant in Cilegon. Japan Catalyst stated that the company can leverage its vertically integrated production advantage from acrylic acid to SAP to meet the strong SAP demand growth in Asia and generate synergies with existing factories. Previously, Japan Catalyst announced the cessation of its old and inefficient SAP factory located in Himeji to optimize its future global SAP supply network. |
